Company history.

History

1994 – Roots in Otto Bock:

The 8-person IT department at the Otto Bock Group is tasked with implementing SAP ERP (formerly SAP R/3) enterprise software in all modules on a central system in Duderstadt (Germany).

1995 / 1996 – Increasing competence:

Thirteen employees implement the SAP ERP system (formerly SAP R/3 system) and perform rollout at 15 locations worldwide. The IT department pushes for the establishment of a worldwide logistics concept for the Otto Bock Group and begins its implementation.

1997 – The Sycor idea:

A group-wide telecommunications solution is implemented in the Otto Bock IT field. The two IT managers, Dr. Marko Weinrich and Rüdiger Krumes, come up with the idea of founding an IT service provider.

1998 – Founding of SYCOR GmbH:

SYCOR GmbH is founded with an external customer network. It integrates the Otto Bock Group’s IT department.

1999 – The move to Goettingen:

SYCOR GmbH makes the transition from a limited liability company to an incorporated company (becoming SYCOR AG). It also moves from Duderstadt to Goettingen (Germany), with completely new, cutting-edge infrastructure (computer centers, etc.).

2000 – National and international expansion:

The Wiesbaden location is established. SYCOR AG acquires shares in SLA Unternehmensberatung GmbH & Co. KG. April sees the founding of the first foreign subsidiary, SYCOR AMERICAS Inc., in the USA.

2001 – Start of the strategy process:

LIGNUM Software GmbH is integrated with the Sycor Group. In December, SYCOR ASIA Pte Ltd is founded in Singapore. Initiation of a strategy process intended to target Sycor’s market positioning.

2002 – Quality certified:

In the middle of the year, Sycor successfully achieves DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 certification and is also awarded the SAP Hosting Partner certificate. LIGNUM Software GmbH and SLA Unternehmensberatung GmbH & Co. KG are taken over in full. At the end of the year SYCOR AG returns to its limited liability status (SYCOR GmbH).

2003 – Strategy implementation:

The strategy process initiated in 2001 is implemented and applied internally.

2004 – Most successful year:

With total revenues of 24.5 million euros, 2004 becomes the most successful year in the company’s history so far.

2005 – Further expansion:

Sycor opens a new representative office in Shanghai (China). In August, Sycor takes over Business Connection in Montreal (Canada).

2006 – Growth and quality:

Compared to the previous year, Sycor increases revenues by 10 percent to 23 million euros. Targeted staffing expansion – especially in America and Asia – ensures that Sycor can meet the challenges of 2006.

2007 – Best results in company history:

Sycor grows both in Germany and in Asia. With growth of 28 percent compared to the previous year, the group generates revenues of 29.5 million euros. These are the best results since the company was founded. The Sycor Malaysia location is established in Kuala Lumpur.

2008 – 10th Anniversary:

Backed by the best results in company history, Sycor started in 2008. On time to celebrate its 10th anniversary, Sycor presented a new corporate design in February, including the new claim “ We give IT a face”. Taking advantage of that momentum, the 260 employees worldwide increased revenues by 15 percent to 34.1 Million Euro – a new record! 

2009 – Sycor defies economic crisis:

Despite the difficult economic environment of 2009, Sycor increased its turnover by €35 million. By acquiring Aixonix SI GmbH and renaming it to Sycor Aixonix GmbH, Sycor also enhanced its position as one of the largest service providers for Microsoft Dynamics AX, and ERP software solution.

2010  – Expanding strong partnerships:

Sycor's intensified partnership with SAP, recent debut as a seller of SAP licenses and acquisition of cogimo GmbH are strengthening its position as an SAP full-service supplier for small and medium businesses. Sycor.Rental, the company's independently developed ERP industry solution for rental, sales, service and maintenance of mobile goods is selling successfully on the international market. Despite the tough economic situation at its international locations, Sycor has boosted its sales to 40.2 million euros, an increase of 14 percent.

2011 – The group of companies grows again

In the 2011 financial year, the group of companies recorded sales of 41.2 million euros with an average of 340 employees. Sycor looks back on an eventful year: a successful acquisition completed in 2011 and two further acquisitions that took effect on January 1, 2012. The new locations in Aachen and Düsseldorf ensure an increased national presence in Germany. In addition, the continued successful cooperation with partners Microsoft and SAP, in particular, left its imprint on the year.
