"I met Sycor employee Thomas Brodag at a party. I mentioned to him that I
wanted to work in IT after graduating high school. He recommended Sycor, his employer. When I
applied, I had an advantage because I already had gathered some IT experience when I was at school.
In August 2008 I moved to Goettingen. Sycor helped me find an apartment, and I started my
apprenticeship as an IT specialist in application development. First I learned about the areas
involved in the development of SAP and e-commerce solutions. In these areas, I independently
developed new tools for analyzing the in-house time sheet database and focused on the development
of online stores. My coworkers were really friendly and helpful right from the start and were
always open to new ideas. They gave me the freedom to learn and experiment on my own so that I
would continue to grow. Right now I'm progressing through all the key departments in two-month
cycles. This way I'll go beyond the development departments and become acquainted with other
departments such as Operations, User Support and Technical Purchasing. After that I'll get to
decide which development department I want to stay in until I finish the apprenticeship and write
my final paper. What I appreciate about Sycor is the wide variety of tasks, the interesting
projects and the ability to structure my working hours in a flexible way. Sycor gave me the
opportunity to turn my hobby into a career."
